How to Order Custom Metal

We know how important it is to have a completely custom design. That’s why you don’t go to a department store for that perfect metal piece and that’s why our rebranding process took some extra time.

We didn’t just buy a template, we journeyed through the process that we take our customers through. We went to the expert to get the completely custom logo just like you trust us to create your perfect metal sign.

Here are some examples of the starting places we had in our process.

Where to Start

Just like we do with our clients, we started with the vision. We gave all of our thoughts, ideas, and preferences to the designer - Sammi Lee Davis. We didn’t know exactly what we wanted yet, but this was a starting place.

We ask the same things from you as our customer, you may not know exactly what you’re wanting yet and that’s okay.

Possible questions we will ask at the beginning of the process are:

  • What do you plan to do with this piece? This will help us determine the material(s) we will use to create your original piece. For example, if you’re wanting a sign to weld on a pipe fence, we often recommend 3/16” thick steel. We also recommend that you leave it raw so the weld will have proper contact and paint it with the pipe fence. That being said, there are other options with tabs and bolting if you prefer a powder coated finish so we can always work things around to meet your preferences.

  • What wording do you have in mind? This may include a name, family names, important dates, song lyrics - the possibilities are endless here

  • What design elements would you like to include? This may be your brand, logo, equipment, livestock, crosses, wildlife, nature - basically anything you can dream up we can bring to life in metal

  • Would you like to see through the background or have a contrasting colored piece bolted to the back to see that color? (examples below)

The Next Step

From there, our designer created a few rough drafts to consider and sent them our way. We expressed the adjustments and edits that we would like to see. In our example, along the way we discovered a frame shape that resembled an M and a W that represent “metal” and “works”. The subtlety of this feature may be looked over by some, but it pivotal in our logo design process.

You will have the same epiphany type experience when you work with us to create the metal design that showcases your legacy with excellence. Unlike many cookie-cutter metal companies, we work with you one-on-one as we create the perfect piece, we will not stop the design process and move into creation until you are 100% satisfied with the design. In this process we usually end up creating friendships and partnerships that last as long as the metal design we create for them.

Finally

In the end, we ended up with a logo that we love! We are confident that when we walk you through a similar process, you will end up with a custom metal masterpiece that you love as well.

Let Branded Metalworks showcase your legacy in a personal process where you may gain a friend too. We are excited to work with you! Let us know you’re interested in working on a pieces together.
